PLPA monitors the state of wildlife on Pleasant Lake and it’s watershed, and works closely with The Loon Preservation Committee on protecting Common Loons, a threatened species.
PLPA publishes an email newsletter, ‘The Nature of Pleasant Lake’ , aimed at educating members about the conservation, protection and science of the nature in and around Pleasant Lake and our watershed.
The committee is responsible for maintaining the loon nesting platforms, buoys and signs that protect nesting loons.
Elkins Fish & Game provides and maintains duck boxes in various locations throughout the Pleasant Lake Watershed.
The PLPA Wildlife Conservation Committee works closely with and is a member of the Loon Preservation Committee of New Hampshire. The LPC works to preserve Common Loons and their habitats in New Hampshire through research, management and education.
The PLPA Wildlife Committee is actively involved in the Loon Preservation Committee’s initiative to protect waterfowl on the lake from ingesting lead fishing tackle.
