All Things Pleasant on the Lake
“Race you to the top of the morning, Come and sit on my shoulders and ride, Run and hide… I’ll come find you, Climb hills to remind you, I love you, my boy at my side!” Archibald’s song from The Secret Garden
You might be so fortunate as to have a fairy whisper in your ear one morning, “The new day dawns! Come and see!”. So easy to brush her aside and go back to sleep. But if you rise…what enchantment awaits! Primrose lines the garden path, all aglow in the early light. And there is heron, with the first catch of the day. Farther along, Mrs. Merganser shepherds her spectacled youngsters out from the rocks. Mother Loon emerges from the early morning mist, calling softly to Father, who is enjoying a hearty breakfast. Ping and Pong gobble up the minnows that are offered…my how these chicks have grown! Ping is happy to show off his mighty wings! The two loon chicks are good pals: sharing stories, making plans for the day. Go back to sleep and miss all of these wonders? Never! Come on! I’ll race you to the top of the morning! Sending all the best, Kittie
