Fall Activity on the Lake

As Pleasant Lake turns toward the Fall, we have good news for the merganser family. All four chicks are looking healthy and still with their mother. They have been exercising their wings and taking short flights around the lake. Precious Kittie has also been practicing flying and is spending more time alone. Recently there has only been one adult loon on the lake – probably the female – having some alone time and a bath. As the lake level drops, we are seeing more and more sandpipers showing up – like this Greater Yellowlegs – as well as swimming squirrels.
