A Second Egg!
Our Loons laid their second egg overnight on May 20-21. For a few days the Loons seemed to be very preoccupied with another pair being on the lake. Now they appear to be relaxed and are on the nest when we check on them, so all is well for now.
We had a pair of wild turkeys mating in our field.
And as usual, we have a pair of Spotted Sandpipers making Pleasant Lake their summer home. You might see them skimming just inches over the surface of the water.
We have several Common Mergansers on Pleasant Lake now. Here is one pair.
We are relieved to see turtles, frogs and newts in Turtle Cove. We are concerned about how the lake lowering late into last fall might effect the wildlife. So far we are encouraged and will be monitoring Turtle Cove closely.
