All Things Pleasant on the Lake

“The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow, Gave the luster of midday to objects below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear…”  Clement C. Moore

A spectacular Super Moon graced us this week, bringing “the luster of midday” to our night sky. Clouds prevented us from seeing Super Moon rise in full splendor, although she later appeared overhead. The next night Moon rose out of the high forests, clinging to the trees before she gracefully floated on her way. Fox must find it easier to make his nightly rounds under such a moon! A pair of Hooded Mergansers has been puttering along the shore. With their pencil-like bills and raised bushy crests they are a sight! Just look at the proud male with a good size crayfish! We are enjoying delicate Paperwhites and red, red Amaryllis on our windowsills. Father Cardinal has been enjoying the seeds scattered under the pots of berries and greens. Christmas is coming to the lake. A wreath has appeared on the Gate House and trees adorned with lights and ornaments are appearing in lakeside windows. Love and Joy are in the air as the spirit of Christmastime begins to weave her magical spell. We intend to be happily caught up in the enchantment!

Sending all the best, Kittie
