All Things Pleasant on the Lake
“And I learned what is obvious to a child. That life is simply a collection of little lives, each lived one day at a time. That each day should be spent finding beauty in flowers and poetry and talking to animals. That a day spent with dreaming and sunsets and refreshing breezes cannot be bettered.” Nicholas Sparks
The Rosa Rugosa are in bloom! Their scent carries us to the sea, reminding us of billowing dunes and seagulls calling. But how is it that a tiny chipmunk can be hiding among the prickly branches? Two baby robins came to visit this week. Mother and Father Robin brought them to the front lawn and gave worming lessons. What fun! No fun for Mother and Father Loon, who have had to endure some extremely warm days on the nest. Mother Loon was observed panting heavily in the midday heat. She could only bear the heat for about an hour, then had to slide into the cool water. There she would stay for just a few minutes before returning to carefully turn the eggs and sit again. Thankfully, refreshing breezes have swept down upon us and now the days “cannot be bettered”. All obvious to a child, and hopefully to children of all ages.
Sending all the best, Kittie
