All Things Pleasant on the Lake
The loon family certainly had their challenges today! They were attacked at least twice by another male who is intent on defeating Father Loon and taking over his territory. The intruder actually came into the “swimming pool” area protected by the buoy lines before he was driven away. But most of the day was very peaceful. The loons stayed close to the nesting raft, even encouraging their chicks to climb up and snuggle. Pong passed his first 24 hour mark today. Ping is the dominant chick, so she will put Pong is his place from time to time. However, at the end of today the two chicks are functioning together very well. Minnows were consumed and many naps were taken, especially by second born Pong. All is well with the loon family and their newly hatched chicks.
Sending all the best, Kittie
