All Things Pleasant on the Lake

“Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desire can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours.”   Ayn Rand

Moon has smiled her lovely smile down on us each night, warming our hearts during this frigid cold. Bright sunny days have created blue ice and snow. Looking down from Mt. Sunapee, we can see that even the big lake is now frozen solid. Fern Frost blossoms on windowpanes, creating fantasy worlds of mythical birds, intricate mazes and wild icy seas. Furry and feathered friends greatly appreciate our efforts to help them through the cold. Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers enjoy the suet feeders. Red-bellied Woodpecker has also appeared. Flocks of Juncos, numbering 50 to 60, carpet the snow, happily collecting the scattered seeds. Peanuts are a favorite treat, quickly scooped up by squirrels and Jays. The New Year begins. Time to check our direction…to remember the nature of the world that we desire….and most especially… time to ignite the fire deep inside our soul and work to keep it burning, warm and true.
Sending all the best, Kittie
