All Things Pleasant On The Lake

“In the end, it is this journey of the loon that inspires our conservation; we wish to keep the magic in our lives. Conservation is but a tool of hope, a necessary part of our own journey back into the romance of the wild.”   Jeff Fair

The romance of the wild…We feel that romance this time of year. During April and early May the lakes belong to the loons. We are mere spectators. The sight of Mother and Father Loon cruising the lake together is likely to bring tears of joy. The loons are so full of hope. Hopeful to nest, hopeful to hatch two little loons, and hopeful to nurture them into self-sufficient young loons. Common Mergansers and other water birds can be seen pairing up around the lake as well. Rain soaked days are brightened by fabulous splashes of glowing yellow…forsythia, daffodils, goldfinch. Our cupful of conservation runs over with hope. We are so very thankful for a glimpse back into the romance of the wild.

Sending All the Best, Kittie
