Notice of Pleasant Lake Lowering, Fall 2018
Every five years Pleasant Lake may be lowered to allow for properly permitted waterfront work after Labor Day. Complete lowering of the lake is damaging to the lake ecosystem. Therefore, if no requests for waterfront work are made to the Selectmen six months prior to Labor Day (March 1st), the normal Fall Schedule will be followed. If requests are made for waterfront work by March 1st, the Selectmen, in consultation with The Pleasant Lake Protective Association, will determine how much the lake needs to be lowered to meet the requests. The last lake lowering was in 2013, so Fall of 2018 will be the next lake lowering.
If you need to do waterfront work, permits are required. You can familiarize yourself with permit requirements and process by visiting the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Wetlands Bureau,
The Town of New London Planning and Zoning Administration is also a good resource. Contact Town Administrator Kimberly Hallquist at 526-4821, Extension 13.
